Omicron and Beetroot Chutney

So many bugs going around, colds, flu and tummy bugs are all out there. The covid lockdown has shielded us over the last 20 months and now the bugs are back, bigger and stronger. This is thrown in with our new Health minister putting the brakes on for the next few weeks on all travel into the UK, masks are now compulsory in shops and public transport. We are not out of this mess yet.

Reminds me of the quote from my last blog; ‘That's how it goes, you think you’re on top of the world, and suddenly they spring Armageddon on you.’ Armageddon being this new Omicron variant. Omicron sounds like a science fiction TV series.

Enough of the woes and tribulations, Christmas is less than a month away and we are in the pleasant phase of planning events, researching for gifts on Amazon, they deliver on time. Sorry everyone, but, if Amazon or Tesco do not sell what you want, you are going to be disappointed. Maybe not, Susan has been known to announce, ‘I am going shopping for presents’ and with that, she is gone for a good part of the day.

My wish list is quite different as I would like some salami, cheese, olives, wine and a baguette, no chutney, we have 2 dozen jars in the kitchen and that is more than enough. I have noticed, some have matured over the last 10 years and should be good to eat this festive season or dumped.

Talking of dumping, I did throw out two jars of beetroot and ginger chutney, really cannot understand why someone would want to give beetroot chutney to someone as a gift? Unless you did not like them, that would explain such a gift. I do have two jars in the garage I have not put in the bin yet and you welcome to them for that special person you do not like. It will be posted to you wrapped in brown paper and the sender's address is omitted. Will have the appropriate warnings on ie. Beetroot and ginger were harmed in the manufacturing process, actually boiled live, blame it on the Vegans.

To family, may you forever be held in our hearts, if no longer in our hands.

  1. I’ve found a good wine you’ll like from a small Californian vineyard. I’m not sure if Amazon or Tesco’s stock it though, I’ll do some research…
