Lack of Support

Breastfeeding mums ‘lacked support’ during the lockdown, according to BBC news. Seems there was a shortage of nursing bras. You can never have enough support. The other news that is being welcomed by breastfeeding mums is, it is an offence to take a picture of a mum breastfeeding without their consent. On the other hand, there is good news as Belfies are now the norm, so we can all celebrate the wonder of mothers feeding their babies in the most normal of ways.

A model made the point by breastfeeding her baby on the catwalk at a fashion show in Miami. Mara Martin held her five-month-old daughter Aria at Sports Illustrated's annual swimsuit show. Click on the image for the full story.

Talking of top stories, Gary is driving his in-laws to Italy on Saturday, now that is going beyond the call of duty but maybe he really wants them gone? He must have his reasons and we are not privy to them. In saying that, he is very fond of hiring a van and moving things around, always has a big smile on his face, reminds me of Alex and his Nerf guns. Boys and their toys or is it Man and a Van?

Susan took all the Christmas decorations and the tree down on New Year’s Eve. Seems she avoided a year of bad luck by doing it then.

Some people believe that you may have bad luck in the New Year if you take your Christmas tree down after midnight on December 31st. If you are superstitious, you may want to take the tree down before midnight on New Year's Eve to avoid any bad luck in the next year.

I am a Twelfth Night person and believe one should take your tree and decorations down 12 days after Christmas. Being lazy, I am happy for Susan to do the heavy work on New Year’s eve, which allows me more time to enjoy the wine.

Interestingly William Shakespeare wrote a cracking comedy called Twelfth Night. Three memorable quotes from this masterpiece come to mind;

Many a good hanging prevents a bad marriage.

Better a witty fool than a foolish wit.

And my favourite;

One face, one voice, one habit, and two persons, a natural perspective that is and is not!

Now let’s not forget my darling brother, so far away in Tanzania and Malvolio’s quote comes to mind;

Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon 'em. (Malvolio, Act 2 Scene 5)

To end I want to say to Robert, who has moved to Nottingham and is starting a new career in Applied Psychology and Behavioural Economy.

You're feeling nervous, aren't you, boy?

With your quiet voice and impeccable style

Don't ever let them steal your joy

And your gentle ways.

In case you do not know what Applied Psychology is, Wikipedia define it like this;

Applied Psychology is the use of psychological methods and findings of scientific psychology to solve practical problems of human and animal behaviour and experience.

Good luck.

You may have noticed, I have not mentioned Lady Vivienne. Well, she has Omicron on top of her melancholy and is isolating. We wish her a speedy recovery and hope to enjoy her scintillating conversation after she has totally eradicated the virus from her body. Omicron is a nasty little bug.
