GSP's Birthday

Street lights dimmed by the rain and gentle mist welcome the night and cold. This is England, muddy, rainy and where we are. Our dining room table has been banished to an early grave, well we did buy it second hand and we have had it for 20 years. My brother arrived, expectedly, and was witness to the boys and I collecting the table from a lady emigrating to New Zealand. £50.00 and we had a table and 8 chairs. Chairs that have sat so many of those we love for so many years. Susan has bought a new table for her birthday, not the common old table but real wood bought and made from wood from the garden of Gethsemane, real quality, real price.

Back to the Birthday, GSP has been spoilt, flowers, Cream teas, swimming gloves and walks with the boys. Also went to the crematorium, where her mother was cremated, I know, maybe a bit impulsive at the time but mistakes happen. All in all a good day and next year is a big one, watch this space. My thoughts go out to the delivery drivers, just as they thought they were finished for the day the manager says, more deliveries for GSP in Canford Heath.

I donate to Sightsavers, a charity who treat the children of Africa who have eye problems. Sightsavers aims to prevent avoidable blindness and save the sight of some of the world’s most forgotten people.

Quote from the website:

'Dr Caroline Harper our CEO earns a salary of £129,500 a year.' Now that is true dedication to your cause. Jokes aside, if you want the charity to be run well you need experts and they cost money.

Sight savers, please give, but check it out first, we want our money to be going to save sight, not to the savings of some fat African politician. Africa has no honest politicians, why is that? Not one! Come to think of it, is this not a global problem?

Have you seen The Cycle Group League table, check it out and I must say Matthew, 5.4km and bottom of the league, really? I suggest you take the trainer wheels off and start riding like a real cyclist.

The Table as it stands; w/e 29.01.2021 (16:30)

Robert Smith  154kms

Michael Smith 51kms

Gary Smith 17kms

Matthew Dickens 5.4kms

Talking of trainer wheels, Late Smiles has decided to sell her bicycle, she finds the balancing thing a bit hard and also the saddle thing, is not that comfortable. Do not judge her too harshly, that girl runs 21kms in an astonishingly short time, giving the fact that a year ago the only running she did was from the car to the school when it rained. Here hoping you get a good price for your pushbike, trainer wheels and saddle that has hardly been used.

Warning- Advertising

“Only ridden a few times by a feisty school teacher from down under, trainer wheels slightly worn, the rest of the pushbike is new.”

Should get a good price.

On another topic. The Down Under Dickens have moved and are now looking for new careers and a new home. I leave them with this one quote I think fits the circumstances and adventures they embark on.

We often feel lost but we love you and love brings us home, I think everyone is trying to get home.

  1. Happy birthday GSP! Great blog, you’ll be pleased to know Late Smiles has already had offers on the bike, maybe an electric scooter is not too far off...
