Sunday wandering

Sometimes I find it difficult to say I love you, so I say something like, I am glad you are all here. I am glad you are all here.

It is what Fox said to Mole, from the novel ‘The Boy, the mole, the fox and the horse.’ by Charlie Mackesy. Tend to agree with the Fox. Great book and worth a read, really good for adults and children.

This is a simple book, like Kingston Lacy. A tranquil escape to the country, always looked over by the majestic, imperial House of the Banks family.

Kingston Lacy, with its established gardens, woodlands and fields, mostly maintained by volunteers. We find a quiet walk around the main gardens, almost as good as a walk on the beach. It is important to take time to stand and stare.

Those trees have been there for centuries and will be there for my grandchildren if we start looking after this world we live in as well as the gardens and woodlands at Kingston Lacy have been looked after. When I walk around the gardens, I am always full of questions. It is in the asking of the questions and the conversation from the questions that enrich our experience of what is a beautiful estate.

We were joined by LV on our walk last weekend and I asked LV how things were going and she said fine but was a little nervous, it was her and her partner’s 2 year anniversary and she generally losses interest after 2 years. This time I think it may be different.

‘They say after 2 years, that is when you are the real you.’ Her words, not mine.

It is the unknown, the future, we must remember, LV may be apprehensive and wary, possibly been hurt by life. I am thinking of her.

This has been the coldest week for 60 years and our walks on the beach have been a challenge, the very cold wind seems to blow from all directions, not allowing any respite, stinging any exposed area of your face, as this is the only area not covered by layers. It was arctic cold, 5 minutes into your walk and your face start's stinging, then you go bright pink. GSP and I walk this twice a day with Jenson, holding gloved hands, holding hands is enough.

GSP did remark that I looked like I had hit the bottle, red nose, bright red ears and numb fingers. Looking on the bright side, this coming week we are expecting the weather to get a little warmer, good news for us but up country they have think snow and that as we all know goes to mush, tricky. To add to the mix, we are all still in lockdown but I have had my first covid virus vaccination.

I came across this great idea in a BBC news article. Books are so important to many of us, I just love the feel of a good book, the smell of the paper and the words helping us escape the madness of our times.

In conclusion, I hope my blogs help you to live stronger, better lives and to ask for help when you need it, which is always a brave thing to do.

When I started my blog many years ago, I never dreamt anyone would read it, a lot of what I write about is fiction but I think everyone is winging it a little and we must spread our wings and follow our dreams.

  2. That library idea was great, it’s a shame she actually got a lot of stick from internet trolls with too much time on their hands. Hopefully she’s kept it going despite all that!
