Friday another week

I know I tend to forecast gloom and doom but the weather is really quite off putting at the moment. I took young Sam for a walk and it was sleeting, the 20 mph wind and 2 deg C did not help. He seems too enjoy it, must be that woolly coat he wears all the time. This photo looks idyllic but the wind is blowing.
Robert has decided to try being a vegetarian, yes Angela I know, it has all been done before, but we reinvent the wheel as we go along. I must admit he is very good and is now eating vegetable, this is an entirely new taste to him. Robert always ate the meat, loads of it and the chips/roast potatoes and nothing else. The reverse has happened, vegetables are the new now. Keep it up Roobob, I will endeavour to keep up as well. 
My role as the family cook is a varied and challenging one. Susan is on the Dukan diet, only protein, loads of steaks, chicken breasts, pork fillets and lamb steaks, are being consumed at an alarming rate, too my bank balance , the weight has come off and she is half the woman I married. Forever the pessimist, only another stone to go. 14 lbs or 6.3 kg in other languages.
On the other hand we have the vegetarian, what can I say but that I will get them back to normal food sometime, in the mean time we will all be sampling the most exciting of dishes.
A good piece of music to listen to when the days are long and tiresome. Ron Howard and the music from the film the Trap. Music for the soul, try the one where he conducts the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. 
Tomorrow we go to the South African shop to buy Russians, Aromat and Tennis biscuits, such an outing.
Having made a broccoli and gammon soup and I must say this is Rembrandt of all soup. I did add a little seasoning and a hint of garlic. That is it, mush it up and sprinkle a little Stilton over the top. I do enjoy a little crusty bread and a good Pinotage.

I drove the iPanda

Life has a funny way of jumping up on you and giving you a pleasant surprise. Susan passed me the keys of her iPanda and said, 'Would you like to drive?'
Music to my ears, Peoguot has launched a car to try and take on the iPanda. This is a big task, first horse meat and then taking on the iPanda, I can see this ending in the French Sulk, as Hollande does so well.
Driving this beast of motoring engineering takes a real man and under the watchful eye of my passenger I set about taming those wild horses. We drove to Sandbanks Beach cafe and had a Panini and coffee. Lovely place to have the afternoon cuppa. Looking forward from the cafe you see from Old Harry's Rock all the way to The Needles on the Isle of Wright. Looking out the back you see Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island. When next in Poole I will take you there.
All too soon the afternoon was over and with it my drive in the iPanda, such simple pleasures, cuppa and a drive in the iPanda with someone you love make life really worth living. Thank you I am most grateful (must overdo it a bit, might get another chance to drive)

Fresh Snow

That new fresh snow is not like the last snow. It is softer, more inviting than the last snow. Every snow is different and somehow more snowy. The slating sun, low over the horizon reflects more gently, allowing us the time to stand and stare longer. Those feathery flakes float so slowly we can see them all the way to the grass , they disappear.
The wind and rain slowly enveloped the little snow that fell and all we left with is cold grass and wind that carries the memory of cold, snow, without the beauty.
We have a nasty cold virus that lingers on and on, I caught it from Robert over a month ago and it has lingered on until in desperation I went to the doctor for an antibiotic. Hopefully it will shake this cough and let me get on with living.
The chronicle in a book form is progressing well as there is very little work about at the moment I have been able to crack on. Putting in the images now as all the text is loaded.
I see from Facebook that Mika is breaking hearts and Travis is flying, interesting observer watching a stuck landrover being pushed out the mud. Oh the joys of social media, even this blog contributes to all the daily snippets that travel the world in search of a read.
Just a note on passing, Sinead o Conner has a song out called VIP, really worth a listen. We went to the Lighthouse to see the film Les Miresrable on Saturday, we have now seen the live version, the video of the live version but with the main singers and now the film. All in all the film tells the story well but the singers do not quite master the very powerful songs that the live version has. See it, it is worth a odd 2 and a half hours of your time.

Doom and Gloom forecast:

Weather wise that is, all doom and gloom. Talking of Doom, why have they not got Doom here? Bedbugs they have, not Doom. Oh I know, Doom has horsemeat in it, just like the French, they are fond of their horsemeat. 
Those French and their new President, Hollande. He has a nasty habit of brooding, staying away from meetings when he is not getting his way. I really feel sorry for his wife, what a weight to have to carry. They call it the French Sulk or the Francois Hollande Sulk. 
Angela made the most fantastic calendar for all those she loved. Sorry if you did not get one but they are rather special and not for the masses. Well done Angela.
Tonight, I make the burgers, always burgers and chips on Friday, just like the Catholics have Fish and chips, we have burgers and chips. A family tradition.
Tradition is one of those really wonderful things, can not think of another word but 'things', that make living worth while. I have started developing the Chronicle Annual, the last 10 years, into an iBook, for those who do not have a iPad, I will be putting out an Android version. Contain yourselves, it will be a while yet.

Has anyone every tried Port Salut cheese? Creamy, French cheese that is softand mild. My new favourite and now I give you the secret, buy it now and enjoy with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and some really ripe tomato.
How do I make my burger? Mix 750g mince with 50 g bread crumbs, touch of mixed herbs, salt and pepper to season, one egg beaten.  Mix the lot together and make 6 round meatball, flatten them and put in the fridge for 30 minutes, grill and serve with fresh lettuce, slice tomato and sliced onion. Chips optional, but mayo and Tom sauce a must. Go on I know you want to be super parent. You heard it here first.
Just finally, did you know that Google makes $700 m per minute, makes you think? Maybe it is time to put a little business Bing's way, let's start to even the odds.

Children start their Schooling

Time has flown and the months keep up the pace. Lily off to school, brings back such memories, some happy, some sad, sad at the passing of time, where has it gone and what have I done with all this time? First it was Mika, then Daniel, Travis and now Lily. Better not dwell on that too much, my eyes are welling up as I write.
Cooking loin of pork tonight with roast parsnips, roast potatoes, butternut (No not roasted) and a light Italian salad. I know Claudia but these things must be done, not as good as yours but done none the less. Talking about those Smiths, did i hear that Claudia's living in husband has taken his trainer wheels off and is now competing on an industrial level? Maybe Claudia will bring the family up to date? If not we can always arrange for a pair of Gucci cement shoes to help understand the situation. Bruno makes the most elegant of shoes when firing his pottery.
Back to the pork dinner, interesting thing is that the ingredients come from all over the globe. Butternut is from Algeria, tomatoes from Spain, pork from Denmark and onions from Argentina. Talk about globetrotting, just take a visit to Tesco and you will eat the worlds foods, nothing from Ireland. That is just too much, horse meat in the burgers and pork for the Muslims in jail. Burger King had a press release to say that all their burgers where 100% beef, Irish beef but beef nonetheless. Oops, they forgot to tell the Irish, so poorly by accident, they included horsemeat and a little Irish pork to make it go further. We must not forget the great potato famine and the reason why America came into being.
Michael turns 19 tomorrow and that is good, jolly good that I nurtured him for those 19 years. I am proud of him, battling through all the odds to survive and go on to a higher plane then I will ever manage. Keep up the studies, these four years will pass too quickly and then you will be part of the world's population, that work to pay their taxes and if lucky have a little over for the fun things. Keep an eye on the waves but remember they will be there long after you are gone, you legacy in life is the only thing that will live on.

Just to finish off, Sam is fine and the weather is looking dodgy, dark clouds fill the horizon and the threat of a cold February is looking more likely. Snow and very lower temperatures are on the cards, so if I do not respond tomorrow it is because of the adverse weather conditions, I will make ever effort to get to work but nature has her way sometimes and then we are powerless.
